sensible image quality on the edge of the APS-C/DX sensor,
moderate longitudinal chromatic aberration,
sensible correction of lateral chromatic aberration,
low spherical aberration,
negligible vignetting on the APS-C/DX,
lack of problems with astigmatism,
good performance against bright light,
silent and accurate autofocus.
Cons:
a lot of distortion problems on RAW files,
huge vignetting on full frame.
Looking at te results of our test you can say that the Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/4 S does exactly what it was designed for. It is a very solid kit lens and I think every photographer who buys it with their Nikon Z camera will be pleased with its performance.
The price is quite another matter. If you want to buy this lens separately you have to spend almost $1000 for it and it's a lot. Buying it in a set with the camera is a more sensible and preferable solution because then the surcharge is just about $600, a price point that can be called acceptable.
At the bottom of this page you can find several photos taken with this lens attached to the Nikon Z6 during my Iceland trip in 2019. Unlike sample shots we don't show their full resolution because the files have been processed and their majority was taken with the help of CPL and ND filters.
