Cons: Poor focus performance. High coma. Price noticeably higher than DSLR counterparts.
Pros: Nice and handy. Cheapest native FE-mount lens you can buy. Image quality for most usage is acceptable.
Summary: I have owned 50/1.8 instruments from Canon (50/1.8 II, non STM), Nikon (50/1.8G) and Sony (FE), so I'd like to compare them. On build quality the Sony is somewhat better than Canon, the most cheapskate lens of them all, built nicely with solid plastics, but I would say it's no match for the Nikon. Optically, the Sony is basically on par with Canon (or better), with nice sharpness in the center but the corner deteriorates at large aperture due to high coma, which disappears after f/2.8. Nikon with its one aspherical element can do much better. For focus I'd say it's similar to the non-STM Canon 50/1.8 -- hunts a lot and makes some noise unless coupled with a really high-end body. In a word this seems a bargain to Sony FE users, but on price side it is really not so favorable compared to DSLR 50mm lenses.
