Summary: It\'s a manual focus lens but no-one really needs autofocus with ultra-wides. The focus ring is quite stiff but I like it this way. Irix leaves the mechanical focus ring calibration to the customer (why?) but it\'s not a big deal. I simply left the discalibration since I do not need the distance scale. The lens has no aparture ring so it works only on digital Nikons and maybe on F6 and F5. It definitely does not work on an F4 and older 35mm cameras. The optical quality is superb despite of the back lit halo. For comparable image quality with ultra-wides you have to pay twice as much for a Nikkor or four times as much for a Zeiss lens. The all-metal built quality is very good except of the plastic hood. It does not hold tight on its bayonet and easily falls off. Over all it is a wonderful lens with an extraordinary value for money. My recommendation: get one!
