Cons: Too large distortion (especially at 18mm & 35mm); Visible vignetting large open at every focal length; Visible CA-s at 18mm & 135mm; Weak construction (including the plastic mount).
Pros: Very good sharpness in the center of the image; Good contrast; Good focal range.
Summary: I borrowed this lens from a friend on several occasions and I've shot a large number of photos with it (on D80 and D90). I recently tested it against the AF-D 50mm f1.8 where at it held itself quite well. If it weren't for the large distortion and the weak construction it would have been a very good all-rounder. Even so, if you go around its weaknesses, you can get very good pictures.

Cons: one of worst Nikon lenses anymore. Massive vignetting and incredible pincushion distortion. Cheap construction with simbolic MF and plastic bayonet.
Pros: decent resolution
Summary: fortunatelly, this lens is not offered anymore with kit DSLr!

Summary: Despite its nominal "average" build quality this lens has provided me with sharp images in a wide variety of less than favourable persona- use situations. It has never failed me despite quite heavy use and has proven to be an excellent purchase decision for my go-anywhere personal Nikon D40.
