Cons: Doesn't have the aperture of the Sony 16-50/2.8. Build not up to the more expensive Zeiss.

Pros: Very sharp lens with long range, light and compact, perfect for landscape, travel or walk-around. Only Zeiss lens available at this level of price.

Summary: The best lens for Sony Alpha 65 or 57. For A77 would recommend the Sony 16-50, more adapted in term of size.

Cons: It seems to be a very "plasticky" lens. It is prone to creeping. A great pity that it isn't waterproof!

Pros: Optically - very sharp. It is my primary workhorse lens - and on some occasions - especially during summer months - used for 500 + shots per day, mostly in very harsh South African agricultural and mining conditions. It is by far the best value for money I've had in more than 30 years. A very very forgiving lens and in spite of its appearance proven to be very durable.

    Summary: Very highly recommended.

Cons: Some reports of quality issues re loose zoom and AF at wide end (though my second hand copy is fine). Costly brand new (but mine was a bargain S/H)

Pros: SHARP!!!!! Good contrast and colours

Summary: Solidly built, useful range on an aps C and this lens is sharp, particularly with a little PP sharpening in software - I took a full 16MP image and cropped it down to 1/8th the original size and was amazed at how sharp the 2 figures in my picture were in the much smaller crop. An excellent walkaround lens.

Cons: - Build quality could be better, zoom creep and slight wobbling - No SSM

Pros: - Sharp as a razor - Useful focal range - Nice aperture range compared to peers - Not bulky or to heavy

Summary: Great walk around zoom lens with amazing optics. Sharp very contrasty and nice colors. Though the build quality is not great (zoom creep and just a plastic feel), it has withstand some serious rain and outside usage.

Cons: -Built quality: good but not as good as you would expect from a Zeiss labeled lens. However the price is much lower than other Zeiss lenses. - distortion at 16mm: usual for this kind of zoom but the DSC-R1 was better...

Pros: - colours: zeiss touch, contrast, rich tones, it seems there's a polorizing filter in it - fast: 3.5-4.5 is nice, almost a constant f4 - sharp: do not need to stop down like the other Sony 16-105

Summary: Better than the Sony 16-105 (faster, sharper) and with zeiss colours! Buy it if you can afford it
