A history of Sony Alpha - Minolta AF 50 mm f/1.7 versus Sony DT 50 mm f/1.8 SAM
6. Distortion
The fact that the Sony was designed to work on a small APS-C sensor and the Minolta was designed for full frame is a bit reflected in the degree of distortion correction. The Sony, for a prime lens with such a focal length, notes a relatively high result of – 0.91% whereas the Minolta fares definitely better, having practically unnoticeable barrel distortion which level was measured as –0.30%.
