Sigma 17-50 mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM

5. Chromatic aberration

Chromatic aberration is controlled well at longer focal lengths. At 30 and 50 mm the graphs are very similar, showing a slight decreasing trend on stopping down the lens. The aberration decreases from near 0.10% to 0.07% so its level is low or medium at the most.

Sigma 17-50 mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM - Chromatic aberration

The most serious situation we see at the shortest focal length. The aberration decreases on stopping down too but near the maximum aperture it reaches 0.15% so a high level. It will be fully noticeable in real life photos.

Looking at the picture of the autofocus accuracy test chart, presented in the chapter 10, we see that the lens doesn’t have any serious problems with the longitudinal chromatic aberration.
