Overall
Owner since: 2 years
Price: $100
User profile: Amateur
Cons: Dark and blurry, plastic mount.
Pros: Lightweight, compact, fast and quite AF and VR for a price.
Summary: Not bad for a kit lens.

Cons: It's a pain having to unlock before use. Closed down all the way isn't as sharp as F8-F11 Really loves a SB600 or equivalent bounce flash indoors to compensate for the 3.5- 5.6 light gathering. Manual focus is difficult.
Pros: It's really compact when locked. Very light. It's as sharp as any 16-24MP sensor at almost all focal lengths at 1 stop down. Build quality is very good for a "Kit" lens
Summary: If I had to choose 1 lens on a D3300 or D5200 for an afternoon hike, this is it. Sharper than my APS-C sensor through most focal lengths and f stops
