Polarizing filters test 2015 - Cokin Pure Harmonie CPL

Cokin is associated with a system of rectangular and square filters inserted into a holder. In their line-up you can also find screwed-on models as we found out during our second polarizing filter test. Still its result was very weak – let’s find out how a new Cokin filter managed this time.

Design, usage and summary

The surfaces covered by broadband multi-coatings are quite easy to clean. A very solid, slim ring is glued in or pressed and the profile is really low. It actually makes us wonder whether such a low profile and such a narrow ring are not a bit of exaggeration? The unscrewing might be problematic. Apart from that the movements are smooth, even and silent. The box itself is impressive as well although it seems too big when compared to the filter.

The mean transmission is one of the highest in our test. The peak falls for the red colour, then the curve decreases by about as much as 10% for blue which might caused the warming of the tone of images. The extinction coefficient is very good in the middle of the visible spectrum and a bit worse for its ends but the amount of light which wasn’t damped down is not big.
