Although 50 mm lenses on small APS-C/DX sensors have lost a bit of its versatility, they are still very popular among amateur photographers. These simple, efficient and well done optical constructions with good fastness are perfectly suitable for, e.g. wider portraits on small sensors.

If you are a Pentax body owner, you have an opportunity to buy a smc Pentax FA 50 mm f/1.4 model and its price, for an f/1.4 fastness, is quite affordable. The lens can be bought already for 360 $, gaining an advantage over similar rival products.

The Pentax users, who are trying to figure which classic „prime” to choose might consider either the smc Pentax DA 40 mm f/2.8 Limited, tested by us not so long ago, or the 50 mm instrument which we are describing here. We hope our test of the smc FA 50 mm f/1.4 model will help you make up your mind. The lens was lent for testing procedures by the Fotozakupy.pl shop.
