Sigma A 50 mm f/1.4 DG HSM

9. Ghosting and flares

The Sigma A 50 mm f/1.4 DG HSM is optically the most complex 50 mm f/1.4 device; it also comes with a big front element, not hidden deep inside the casing. These features raise the standards in this category significantly. In the photos below you can notice that indeed, there are some problems. The situation is relatively good near the maximum relative aperture. On stopping down there are more and more flares and gleams; they can appear even if the source of bright light is situated outside the frame. Still the performance is hardly something not up to scratch so in our opinion the Sigma fares moderately well here.
