1. Introduction

When in November 2013 Tamron showed a very good 150-600 mm lens and in the same time Sigma was getting rid of the last specimens of their 150-500 mm f/5.0-6.3 APO DG OS HSM model it was clear the launch of a rival of the Tamron was only a matter of time. Sigma made a very interesting move, presenting actually two rivals at the same time, both featuring the same parameters when it comes to the focal range and aperture. The first was the Sigma S 150–600 mm f/5–6.3 DG OS HSM which full test we’ve already published and the results can be found here. Still you couldn’t call that model a direct Tamron competitor as the Sigma was not only much bigger and heavier, its build quality was also superior, with a fully weather-sealed body. It also costs almost two times more.

It became clear that the Sigma C 150–600 mm f/5–6.3 DG OS HSM was designated to be the direct rival of the Tamron, as it was similar in dimensions, weight and price. Its first specimens arrived to Poland at the end of March and the beginning of April 2015 and one of them, courtesy of a very quick reaction of Sigma ProCentrum was sent to our editorial office. In the following chapters we present its performance in our test – enjoy your reading!
