7. Coma, astigmatism and bokeh

The tested lens deals well with coma and other aberrations which deform point-like diode images in frame corners. These deformations, if they happen at all, are slight so the performance in this category we assess very positively indeed, especially if you take into account the wide range of focal lengths of the lens and its constant aperture.

The astigmatism, understood as an average difference between vertical and horizontal MTF50 function values, amounted to 3.8% so was slight.

Taking into account the fact that you deal here with a zoom lens you cannot have serious reservations about its out-of-focus areas. Only a lighter rim and traces of concentric ‘onion’ rings might stick out a bit. You should also emphasize low influence of mechanical vignetting.
