10. Autofocus

The work of the autofocus of the tested lens is silent and very quick, no matter whether you join this instrument to the E-M5 Mark II or the E-PL1. Running through the whole range and confirming the focus took no longer than 0.3-0.4 of a second which is an excellent result. The only thing we noticed was a slight difference concerning the direction. Going from the infinity to the minimum focus is fast and not problematic at all but if you go the other way round the lens sometimes has to hunt for the proper setting; obviously it makes the process a bit longer.

It would be also difficult to talk about any problems with the accuracy of the mechanism. No matter whether these were studio or outdoor photos, the number of misses never exceeded 1%. No reservations here.

When it comes to the front or back focus tendencies we noticed a slight front-focus only at the maximum focal length when the lens was attached to the E-PL1. The device didn’t have any problems cooperating with the E-M5.
