9. Ghosting and flares

We haven’t seen such a nice performance in this category for a long time. Of course we are aware of the fact that the Canon is helped by its small front element but, after all, ghosting and flares don’t depend on its size only. If the coatings were of poor quality and the blackening inside the instrument insufficient the result wouldn’t be so good anyway.

We couldn’t observe any distinct light artefacts, no matter what the position of bright light was and what aperture we used. What’s more, the contrast seemed to stay on a sensible level too even if the sun was situated inside the frame of very close to its edge.
