8. Vignetting

The following thumbnails show the vignetting performance of the tested lens by f/2.8 and f/4.0 on the sensor of the Canon 50D.

At the maximum relative aperture the brightness loss in the frame corners amounts to 26% (−1.60 EV). We think it is a moderate value, exactly the same as in the case of the Tokina but distinctively better than the performance of the Nikkor which vignetting level was about 39%.

On stopping down the aperture to f/4.0 the vignetting decreases to 19% (−0.62 EV), and by f/5.6 it becomes completely imperceptible, dropping to 8% (−0.24 EV).
