1. Introduction

The Chinese Zhongyi Optics company are the creator of the Mitakon brand name. It seems they try to find a right place on the market by offering manual lenses with interesting parameters. In their line-up you can find as many as three f/0.95 devices, among them the fastest 135 mm instrument currently available, and the Mitakon 20 mm f/2.0 4.5x Super Macro, also a very original and interesting optical device.

We have already tested one very fast Mitakon lens and we weren’t especially impressed. Still the producer seemed to draw proper conclusions and react to criticism because after a short time they presented the second, improved version of that instrument. This time we decided to take a closer look at the Mitakon Speedmaster 50 mm f/0.95, the only full frame f/0.95 lens in the Zhongyi Optics line-up designed for mirrorless Sony cameras.

We would like to thank FoxFoto the distributor of Mitakon products in Poland, for sending us one specimen of the tested lens very quickly.
