The Sigma 14–24 mm is a zoom lens with a big front element and as many as eleven element groups inside, which means 22 air-to-glass surfaces. Usually such a combination would be the best disaster recipe when it comes to the performance against bright light. To our utter surprise the tested lens performed quite well in this category. You can catch some flares from time to time but they are never numerous or intensive. If we had to find something to complain about we would point out that there were situations in which we observed some small flares even though the sun was positioned far from the frame.
