We didn’t expect any serious problems when it comes to the performance against bright light. First, ten group of elements don’t constitute a serious challenge today for modern anti-reflective coatings and Sigma have proved time and again that they can produce such coatings without any problems – on our website you might find several transmission tests of their lenses to prove it. Second, the front element is not exactly big and it remains hidden in a properly blackened, ribbed tube.
Our expectations were confirmed in practice. In most of cases you won’t notice any ghosting or flares in photos taken with the Sigma A 2.8/70 Macro; if they appear at all they are neither intensive nor especially bothersome. The performance is perhaps not ideal but it certainly can be called good.
