Sigma A 105 mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro
1. Introduction
The COVID-19 and, connected to it, the lockdown of businesses and individuals, has been a source of big changes on the photooptical market. There have been segments which crashed spectacularly in a very short period of time and there have been others that, at the same time, thrived beyond belief. For example without weddings, mass events, fashion shows, press conferences, concerts, different movie events and such the demand for studio and journalistic lenses decreased noticeably.
On the other hand people who had fleed the cities and gone to the country started to rediscover the beauty of nature. Accordingly, binoculars, spotting scopes, microscopes, and inverting telescopes have been disappearing from shop shelves; the same could be said about telephoto and macro lenses. Some companies dealing with the latter have seen an increase in demand of over 100%.

Nowadays the line-up of optics designed for the Sony FE system is really impressive but its macro segment seems to be really underrepresented. It's obvious Sigma have added two and two together and decided to show a new lens of that class, the Sigma A 105 mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro in two versions, with the Sony FE mount and with the L-mount/Leica-SL.
Courtesy of K-Consult, the official distributor of Sigma products in Poland, one of first production specimens of that lens was sent to our editorial office and now we can share with our Readers the full test of this lens – enjoy!
