1. Introduction

If you are a renowned optics producer with a new system you will try to offer in your line-up classic journalistic zoom lenses as fast as possible – we mean here, of course, lenses like a 24-70 mm and a 70-200 mm as fast as f/2.8.

The Nikon full frame mirrorless system was launched in August 2018 and the first of lenses mentioned above we saw just several months later, in February 2019; it was the Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S we've already tested.

For the 70-200 mm f/2.8 you had to wait a bit longer because it was launched in January 2020. Despite the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic it hit the shelves very quickly but its price has been rather steep, reaching $2600. Have you ever wondered whether it was worth such an amount of money? We hope the following chapters will help you dispel your doubts.
