Viltrox AF 50 mm f/1.8 FE / Z

10. Autofocus

The autofocus of the Viltrox when joined with the Nikon Z7 is practically noiseless. It would be difficult to find a fault with its speed either because running through the whole range, no matter from what end you start, takes about 0.6-0.7 of a second, perhaps not a record-breaking value but also nothing to carp about.

We were also very pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of the focusing mechanism. The misses were very few and far between, not bad for an independent producer that takes the first steps in a segment of autofocus lenses for the Nikon Z system. Of course it doesn't mean there were no misses at all but, 1-2% of all cases is not much.

We also didn't have any problems with front or back focus tendencies so the lens didn't need any AF micro adjustment.
