1. Introduction

The idea behind a universal zoom lens has been evolving with the progress of optics. Even 50 years ago even a 35-70 mm model could be considered as such, then 28-70 lenses appeared in shops and nowadays the market is dominated by 24-70 mm devices that are offered with either f/2.8 or f/4.0 apertures.

Simultaneously a line of models ending with a bit longer focal lenght has been developped. In the 80s of the 20th century we saw 35-105 mm lenses, in the next decade 28-105 mm instruments could be bought and then the focal range was further expanded to 24-105 mm or even 24-120 mm.

In the digital era these models have become massively popular and many reflex cameras have been sold in kits with such lenses. Small wonder: a focal range of a 24-105 mm or a 24-120 mm lens allows you to enjoy many types of photography. It also shouldn't surprise you that after launching mirrorless cameras producers started to offer optical devices of such type practically at once. Sony was not an exception to that rule – already in October 2017 they presented the FE 24-105 mm f/4 G OSS model and today we have a pleasure to present its full test – enjoy your lecture!
