8. Vignetting

Let's check the vignetting levels of the tested lens both on JPEG and RAW files developped by third-party software.

In case of JPEG files the situation is decent. At the maximum relative aperture vignetting reaches 31% (−1.06 EV), a very sensible result for such a fast aperture as the one offered by the tested lens. By f/1.4 the aberration decreases to 26% (-0.86 EV) and by f/2.0 it drops to 19% (-0.60 EV). All problems end practically by f/2.8 and f/4.0 where we got the following values: 13% (-0.42 EV) and 8% (-0.25 EV).

Of course uncorrected RAW files can say you more about the real level of this aberration and here the results are higher. At the maximum relative aperture you have to take into account a loss of light in the frame corner of about 47% (−1.86 EV). It's a lot but still you have to keep in mind what parameters you are dealing with. By f/1.4 vignetting decreases to 40% (−1.47 EV), and by f/2.0 it drops to 24% (−0.79 EV). By f/2.8 you have to make do with a loss of light as high as17% (−0.54 EV), and by f/4.0 and f/5.6 all problems ends with the following values: 11% (-0.35 EV) and 6% (-0.18 EV).
