8. Vignetting

Let's check vignetting of the tested lens for both JPEG and RAW files developed by neutral software.

When it comes to a lens with such small dimensions vignetting is very difficult to correct. As a result you can notice this aberration without any problems even on JPEG files. By f/2.0 you deal with brightness loss in the corner amounting to 32% (-1.11 EV), and it decreases to 28% (-0.96 EV) on stopping down the aperture to f/2.8 and to 13% (-0.41 EV) on stopping down to f/4.0. Further stopping down of the aperture doesn't produce any significant effects because by f/5.6 and f/8.0 you deal with exactly the same result, reaching 12% (-0.37 EV).

On uncorrected RAW files the problems are even more pronounced. At the maximum relative aperture this aberration reaches 53% (-2.16 EV), and by f/2.8 it decreases to 36% (-1.29 EV). By the f/4.0 aperture you deal with a moderate level of 24% (-0.79 EV), that changes slightly, decreasing to 23% (-0.74 EV) after reducing the aperture to f/5.6. F

urther stopping down doesn't have any measureable effect on this aberration.

To sum up we expected rather high results here but, after reminding yourself how other fast mirrorless instruments can perform in this category, we still don't have any strong reasons to complain. The Ultron 2/27, being such a small lens, barely exceeded a level of 2 EV and in our tests we've seen results of 3 EV and higher.
