A history of Sony Alpha - Minolta AF 85 mm f/1.4 G D versus Sony Zeiss Planar T* 85 mm f/1.4
11. Summary
It seems to me, though, that the score doesn’t reflect the real differences because Sony’s wins in particular categories, although often obvious, are far from significant advantage. That’s why you can say that the performance distance between those two lenses matches more or less their price difference. If you don’t like compromising , you can buy the Sony/Zeiss. If you want to save about 400 $ you should get interested in the Minolta - a lens which is a bit optically worse than the Zeiss but is also able to produce good quality shots and be a great fun to work with.
