10. Autofocus

Cooperating with an A100 the tested lens whirrs audibly but the sound is not particularly uncomfortable. Taking into account the lack of an ultrasonic motor the speed is also not that bad. It can run the whole range in circa 0.7 s and we mean both ways.

In the case of an A700 body the autofocus works even quicker. The sounds during its work change too. They are slightly quieter but their frequency is higher - it changes from a whirr to a buzz.

The accuracy of the autofocus deserves a lot of praise. In studio conditions it had 3% of misses which is a very good result. We didn’t notice any frontfocus or backfocus tendencies.
