Canon EF 35 mm f/1.4L is a very good, interesting lens with impressing properties both on full frame and on smaller APS-C sensors. Working with full frame reflex cameras it gives an over 63 degrees field of view so it can be used for journalistic purposes, landscape photography and in the studio, where we take less formal portrait and full body photos.

When we decide to use it with APS-C sensor reflex cameras, we get a brilliant standard lens, an equivalent of the 55 mm analog focal length so a very good and fast substitute of the classic 50 mm lens.

This lens is considered to be one of the best from the top level Luxury series by many of Canon cameras users. The Canon company seems to agree and its price is the proof of it. For this standard prime instrument we have to pay as much as 1240$ so more than for some of the journalistic zooms from the L class.

Does the quality of the lens can compensate such a significant expenditure? Courtesy of the Cyfrowe.pl shop we were able to borrow this lens for our tests and check it out – please, feel invited to read the next chapters.

We invite you to acquaint with our test procedure, described in the article "How do we test the lenses?"
