Once again we have an opportunity to test how the famous smc Pentax coatings perform in bright light conditions. Good reputation or not, it is always worth checking because many examples, like a 2.8/40 LTD and a 16-50 f/2.8 show that a lens’s performance in this category can be drastically different.

Fortunately the 70 mm model doesn’t repeat the slip-up of the 16-50 f/2.8 device and fares very well. Only on stopping down, in the corner opposite to the bright light source you can notice a distinct, green artifact. In other situations the instrument’s performance left nothing to complain about.
