Lenses with f/1.4 apertures and the focal length in the 50-58 mm range are among the most popular and also the most classic fixed focal devices on the market. Small wonder every serious optics manufacturer tries to include these in its line-up and every editorial office which tests optics and publishes reviews, has a lot of these instruments’ tests. The Optyczne.pl is not an exception to the rule. So far, we have tested one Canon, two Nikkors, two Pentaxes, one Sigma, one Sony and one Zeiss with such parameters. As you see, there is plenty of room for comparisons of different kinds.

The next lens of this class which has found its way to our editorial office is the Voigtlander Nokton 58 mm f/1.4 SL II - a classic manual device with the logo of one of legendary German companies. Although it is a classic, it also features a spirit of new trends - being produced in Japan it boasts contacts which allow good communication with a body like transferring information saved later in EXIF, controlling the aperture, the in-focus indicator and fully automated cooperation with a flash.
