Pentax smc DA 35 mm f/2.4 AL

5 April 2011

8. Vignetting

As you see in the thumbnails below the vignetting at the maximum aperture makes itself felt a bit. Its value amounts to 29% (-0.99 EV) which is quite high . On implementing f/2.8 aperture the vignetting decreases to 25% (-0.84 EV). The problem practically disappears completely by f/4.0, where this aberration is just 11%.

Pentax smc DA 35 mm f/2.4 AL - Vignetting

The Nikkor 1.8/35 at the maximum relative aperture showed vignetting on the level of 37%. By f/2.8 its result was a bit better than that of the Pentax (22%) and, what’s interesting, by f/4.0 it was a tad worse for a change (14%).
