The tested lens is an expensive, professional zoom instrument; small wonder our expectations concerning its autofocus performance were high. The mechanism is certainly very quiet (you can only hear a delicate whirr of shifting elements) because an ultrasonic USM motor was used here. It would be difficult to have any reservations concerning the working speed – running through the scale takes about half of a second, no matter the conditions. Such a result is very good and really praiseworthy.

The accuracy of the mechanism deserves also a lot of praise. In studio conditions it missed in just 2% of shots which is a very good result. While working using two bodies in our test we didn’t noticed any front or back focus tendency.
