Pros:
  • solid and stylish casing,
  • brilliant image quality in the frame centre,
  • good image quality on the edge of the frame,
  • good correction of spherical aberration,
  • slight distortion,
  • almost zero coma level,
  • negligible astigmatism,
  • accurate autofocus.

Cons:

  • high vignetting level,
  • chromatic aberration could have been lower.

It is really difficult to say something original in the summary section. Zeiss proved once again that they can construct one of the sharpest devices in a given system; mind you they are completely aware of it, demanding a lot of money for their efforts. A superior optical and mechanical quality plus the reputation of a well-known brand name must cost a lot and it seems the customers have to get used to that.
