7. Coma, astigmatism and bokeh

The crops below show clearly that the coma correction of the Nikkor 4/300 PF is exemplary - even in the corners of full frame and at the maximum relative aperture it remains imperceptible. A round of applause!

The astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 values, amounted to just 3.8%. It is a value considered by us as low. To be honest you should add that the maximum relative aperture had the biggest influence on that result. Stopping down the aperture to f/5.6 makes the astigmatism practically zero.

You should also praise the appearance of defocused areas. We thought that, because of the implemented technology, there would be a lot of intensive, circular rings in the circles of light. That effect is noticeable but also negligible; it seems the blurred area in photos taken with the Nikkor 4/300 PF will be pleasing to the eye.
