7. Coma, astigmatism and bokeh

The thumbnails, shown below, are the proof that the tested lens has no noticeable coma correction problems. The Fujinon sticks out in this category as it fares better than the Canon, the Nikkor, the Sigma and the Tokina. Only the Sony DT 16-50 mm f/2.8 seemed to get similarly good results.

The astigmatism, understood as an average difference between vertical and horizontal MTF50 function values, amounted to 5.6% - it is a low value. It is also worth noticing that the astigmatism reaches practically zero at 16 mm and becomes a bit higher in the 35-55 mm range.

Defocused light circles don’t bowl us over, especially as you deal here with a top-of-the-range lens. You can notice a lot of concentric lines, an accentuated rim and truncations connected to the mechanical vignetting. A bit too many flaws for this class of equipment.
