Chromatic aberration

Photos presented below show it clearly that the longitudinal chromatic aberration of the Milvus 1.4/85 is negligible already at the maximum relative aperture. It is a very similar performance to that of the much more expensive Otus.

No matter what detector and what aperture value you employ, that aberration remains practically constant, keeping a very low level of 0.01–0.02%. Within the margin of error the more expensive Otus performed practically the same so both these lenses deserve to be praised a lot in this category.

Spherical aberration

First photos of this chapter don’t show any ‘focus shift’ effect so the level of spherical aberration cannot be very high. The appearance of defocused light circles seems to confirm that. If you add good image quality at the maximum relative aperture, without the characteristic contrast decrease, you might say the spherical aberration of the Milvus is corrected properly well.
