Wide angle Tokinas often have problems with the performance against bright light. The tested lens, unfortunately, is not an exception to that rule. There is no big tragedy if you work near the maximum relative aperture but on stopping down the problems become rather pronounced. The situations when the sun is outside the frame and you still catch a huge flare spoiling the whole photos are not rare – just glance at the examples below.
We experienced the same difficulties in the previous Tokina models (e.g. the 11-16 mm) and we are surprised that the company haven’t solved that problems for so many years.
