1. Introduction

The full frame mirrorless Sony system was launched on 16 October 2013 with the Sony A7 camera and as many as five lenses dedicated to it. Two zoom devices were designed entirely by Sony but three others were co-created with Zeiss. The small Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 35 mm f/2.8 ZA was one of them.

We thought it would be a good idea to start testing Sony FE lenses with one of the earliest models, launched as the first on the market at the very beginning of the whole system; that’s why we chose the Sonnar 2.8/35 FE as the first.

We would like to thank the Polish Sony subsidiary for lending us one specimen of the lens.
