Tamron 17-35 mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD

7. Coma, astigmatism and bokeh

As long as you work with the smaller APS-C/DX sensor you won’t have any coma-related problems. If you look closely at diode images in the corners of full frame, though, you’ll notice deformations; fortunately they aren’t especially pronounced. The degree of coma correction of the Tamron 17-35 mm can be described as bordering low and medium values.

Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values, amounted to 3.1% and it is a value we consider to be very low.

When it comes to defocused circles of light we don’t have any reasons to complain. You can perceive a weak influence of mechanical vignetting and a slightly accented rim but these are, in fact, the only things that draw our attention, and they can hardly be called bothersome.
