The Tamron 17–35 mm f/2.8–4 Di OSD is not a lens easy to correct when it comes to the performance against bright light. It provides an angle of view of over 100 degrees and features a fast f/2.8 aperture; what’s more it changes its dimensions and the front element is huge and convex. Add to that as many as 20 air-to-glass surfaces and you get a recipe for a disaster. Our surprise in this part of the test was even greater as the tested lens against the odds performed quite well in this category.
You can catch some flares from time to time, both when the sun is inside or outside the frame, but their number is limited and they aren’t especially intensive. In many situations we had to look very closely at the photos in order to notice them at all. We consider it to be a huge achievement of the Tamron and the lens deserves a lot of praise here.
