1. Introduction

The Sony FE 28 mm f/2 is one of the cheapest brand name Sony lenses – you can buy it for about 1700 PLN and the price matters. If you remind yourself that a bit slower model with a slightly longer focal length, so the Sony Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 35 mm f/2.8, has a price tag practically exactly two times higher, you might consider it a very interesting choice.

Good aperture fastness, an angle of view of about 75 degrees and small physical dimensions mean that, joined with a shapely mirrorless camera, this piece of equipment an excellent journalistic or travel photography lens.

We don't doubt many people might be seriously considering the purchase of that model; we hope that our test, presenting its optical and mechanical properties, will allow them to make the right choice.

We would like to thank the Fotojoker company for lending us one specimen of that lens for testing purposes. You are also invited to get acquainted with our test procedure, described in the article "How do we test lenses?" If you feel it’s still not enough, please go to our FAQ section where you can find some further explanation.
