Nikon Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S

10. Autofocus

The autofocus of the Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S joined with the Nikon Z7 camera is practically noiseless. You don't even hear a delicate whirr of moving elements. The speed, though, is decent and decent only – running through the whole distance range and confirming the focus takes about 0.5-0.6 of a second. From a top-of-the-range journalistic lens I would expect something like 02.-0.4 of a second so I think there's a room for improvement in this category.

We don't have any reservations concerning accuracy of the autofocus because in this area the Nikkor performs as it should and as befits an expensive, professional lens. We didn't have any misses either in the studio or shooting outside.

Photos below show clearly that the tested lens doesn't have any problems with front or back focus either.
