8. Vignetting

First let's check the performance of the tested lens on both JPEG and RAW files developped by independent software.

It is clear that vignetting is corrected on JPEG files and you can't switch that process off. As a result its level is rather low. By f/1.4 brightness loss in frame corners amounts to 27% (-0.90 EV) and it decreases to 18% (-0.58 EV) on stopping down the aperture to f/2.0. By f/2.8 and higher apertures vignetting keeps the same level of 13% (-0.42 EV).

Only while examining RAW files you can see the real level of this aberration. At the maximum relative aperture it amounts to 48% (-1.87 EV). It's a high value but, if you take into account the aperture fastness and angle of view, you can say the Fujinon still managed to emerge unscathed. Especially that by f/2.0 vignetting decreases to 38% (-1.18 EV), by f/2.8 it drops to 26% (-0.86 EV), and by f/4.0 it is diminished even a bit more, to 25% (-0.85 EV). Further stopping down doesn't have any measureable influence on the aberration described here.
