5. Chromatic and spherical aberration

Chromatic aberration

Photos below show clearly that the tested lens doesn't have any problems with correction of longitudinal chromatic aberration. Even at the maximum relative aperture colouring of out-of-focus images is almost imperceptible. What's interesting, such a good result was obtained without any help of low dispersion elements as they aren't included in the optical design of the lens.

Now let's check lateral chromatic aberration – the graph below shows its performance depending on aperture values for both types of detectors.

Most results hover around 0.07 - 0.09% and it means they are on the borderline of low and medium values. It seems lateral chromatic aberration shouldn't be especially bothersome.

Spherical aberration

First photos of this chapter don't show any focus shift effect and it means the level of spherical aberration can't be high. The appearance of out-of-focus circles of light, reached before and behind the focus confirms that much - they are very much alike, without any significant differences.
