In this category the task of the tested lens was really difficult – after all you deal here with a very wide range of angles of view, and a complex, moveable optical system that consists of 16 elements positioned in 12 groups. Add to that a big front element, positioned rather shallowly inside the casing and all problems become rather understandable.
That's why we aren't especially surprised by quite average performance of the Tamron in this category. While we expected some ghosting and flares with the sun situated inside the frame, we were a bit disappointed by seeing distinct light artifacts when the source of bright light was moved far away from the frame.
