10. Autofocus

When combined with the Sony A7R III the autofocus of the Sigma A 1.2/20 is completely noiseless. Compared to the pre-production version of this lens we had been able to handle earlier it's been significantly improved. There is no 'pumping' or 'focus play' and running through the whole distance scale and confirming the focus takes about 0.5-0.6 of a second. It's a good result and currently the new Sigma's performance in this category is simply beyond reproach.

We also didn't have any reservations concerning the accuracy of the mechanism. We didn't encounter any problems, no matter whether we worked in our studio or outside.

The lens also didn't have any significant front or back focus tendencies.
