5. Chromatic and spherical aberration

Chromatic aberration

The tested lens itself doesn't have practically any problems with longitudinal chromatic aberration but it does appear after attaching the MC-20 teleconverter. 'Colouring' makes itself bothtersome, with images before the focus getting blue-green and these behind the focus becoming orange-red.

In case of lateral chromatic aberration you see the reverse process. Let's glance at a graph below.

This time, after attaching the converter, the aberration decreases slightly but it should be mentioned that its level didn't seem bothersome even before. The aberration increased quickly from less than 0.03% near the maximum relative aperture to over 0.06% at apertures from f/11 onwards. As you see, even these highest values still fit a range we consider to be low.

Spherical aberration

The tested lens doesn't have any problems with spherical aberration, no matter whether you use it on its own or with the teleconverter. We didn't notice any focus shift; circles of out-of-focus points of light were perhaps not exactly the same but the differences between them we found quite inconspicuous.
