7. Coma, astigmatism and bokeh

The tested lens didn't have any coma-related problems and photos, shown below, are the proof. Even in the corners of full frame images of a diode didn't show any distinct deformations. In this category the Sony certainly deserves to be praised.

Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between vertical and horizontal MTF50 function values, amounted to 4.4% and was very low. You also have to notice that the maximum focal length, with astigmatism reaching 6.3%, contributed the most to that value.

Defocused circles of light didn't make us overly happy, especially after we compared them to the circles generated by the Sony FE 70-200 mm f/2.8 GM OSS II. In case of the model, tested here, you can clearly notice onion ring bokeh. As if it wasn't enough, mechanical vignetting has also a lot to say, its level especially pronounced at the maximum relative aperture, and it doesn't disappear completely even on stopping down the aperture by 2 EV.
