We got a not especially nice surprise when it comes to the performance against bright light. If I was supposed to rate Viltrox Air devices designed for smaller sensors I would expect 35 and 56 mm lenses perform the best. Meanwhile this last instrument fares the weakest in this category and photos below prove it very well.
The situation is especially weak when the source of bright light is positioned right outside the frame. With the aperture stopped down in a significant way the frame corner can get overexposed by a very bright flare that turns into a big, distinct arc as you move it further from the sun.
As a kind of consolation you can add that the Viltrox 1.7/56 doesn't show any distinct contrast loss across the frame.
