Canon EF 55-200 mm f/4.5-5.6 II USM

10. Autofocus

The Canon 55-200 mm is equipped with a USM motor and it can be seen – or rather heard – at the first moment of operation. The zooming is very quiet but the poor aperture often interferes with the speed, which results in the lens frequently failing in poor light.

The Canon’s autofocus failed, on average, 10% of the time in our testing conditions.

The autofocus has also a slight tendency for front focusing.
